APRR-AREA defines and operates its Multi-years maintenance plan

Context

APRR-AREA, the second-largest motorway operator in France, is responsible for managing part of the national motorway network, which includes over 3,000 bridges. To enhance user experience and ensure safety while optimizing investment in bridge maintenance, APRR-AREA set out to develop a multi-year investment plan that incorporates a preventive maintenance strategy. This approach relies on capitalizing existing data through a digitalized asset reference system. Since 2018, Oxand has been supporting APRR-AREA with its software solution.

What did we do?

  • Centralize scattered data on civil structures into a digitalized asset reference system

  • Conduct a component-by-component analysis for each bridge

  • Simulate component and bridge aging to anticipate maintenance needs and act preventively through generalized “campaigns”

  • Justify investment needs to inform leadership, reduce project costs, and minimize user disruption

  • Continuously monitor bridge conditions by linking safety audit data with Oxand’s investment planning and maintenance scenario simulation tool

Gains

Securing additional funding by demonstrating the benefits of preventive over corrective maintenance

Alignment of executive strategy, allocated budgets, and actual technical needs

Improved customer experience through shorter worksite durations (preventive maintenance being less disruptive than corrective interventions)

Visualization of cumulative costs to invest at the optimal time
