Context

The Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is responsible for one of the largest and oldest school estates in France: more than 300 upper secondary schools, over 2,500 buildings and more than 4.5 million m² of floor area, spread across three territories. Having invested around €1.5 billion in those schools under its Plan Marshall for 2016-2021, the Region opened a second programme for the 2022-2030 period, extending the same regional policy to public and private upper secondary schools alike with programme authorisations of some €3 billion. Its property directorate set itself a clear objective before that programme started: to bring the estate's asset data up to date and hold it in one place, so that the schools, the territories and the regional decision-makers would all read the condition of the estate from the same reference.
