Questions about this reference

What does the study cover?

A portfolio of 472 schools, representing over 1,000 buildings. Of these, 174 are to be fully renovated or newly built, totalling 600,000 m².

What did the city want from a digital tool?

To put its audit data to work: define an investment roadmap built on preventive maintenance, and prepare future budgets objectively rather than by carrying forward the previous year.

How was the work sequenced?

An assessment first — technical data collected, the organisation reviewed and its practices framed — then the assets modelled and maintenance strategies simulated with their impact measured, then scenarios compared with recommendations, and finally a roadmap for continuous improvement.

Why does a school estate need a preventive approach in particular?

Because works have to fit around the school calendar. Anticipating an intervention is what allows it to be scheduled in a window that does not interrupt teaching, which a corrective queue cannot guarantee.

What does the city hold at the end?

A five to ten year investment strategy built on objective data, and a real estate governance organisation reworked around it.
